Title: Bridging the Artificial Divide
Speaker: Alicia Liu
I’ve never stopped to consider whether Software Engineering was an art or a science. I’d probably come down on the side of science but Alicia raises some interesting questions:
- What makes the techies more valuable than the non-techies?
- Why is there even a divide between the two, not just in salary but in status?
- If our software engineers see humanities as fluffy, or less worthy, how can we understand the society and the people we are writing software for?
